How do you test Novadry membrane waterproofing?Answer :

Thank you for your interest in our products.
Novadry-labelled garments go through a complete process. To obtain the Novadry label, products must use the Novadry component AND use the Novadry-approved assembly process. Components are waterproof, breathable, water repellent and windproof, to varying levels depending on use. Assembly uses taped seams or thermo-bonding to make the garments waterproof. Vents located carefully on the garment provide optimised breathability.
To approve Novadry components, one of the tests we use is the Schmerber waterproofing measure (mm of water column), and the RET: resistance to evaporation reflecting the breathable characteristics of a material. The lower the RET value, the better the component's breathability. Novadry components have a maximum RET of 12.

Question No.2
How can I re-waterproof my Novadry jacket?Answer :

Thank you for your interest in our products.
First all of, remember that "re-waterproofing" means reactivating the water repellent treatment on the outer fabric. This is the treatment that means water slides off the fabric and doesn't soak into the jacket.
Here are the steps to follow
1/ Whenever you wash your garment, rinse it well for the water repellence to last longer.
2/ If the water repellence does fade, place your jacket in the tumble dryer (on a very low heat) for 15 minutes, or iron it (cold iron). You can even use a hair dryer.
3/ If step 2 doesn't reactivate the water repellence, use a specific product (washing additive, spray or aerosol), following the instructions on the label.

How can I clean my horse's rug?Answer :

Thank you for your interest in our products.
Care instructions are pretty much the same for all Novadry-labelled products.
First just rinse the rug and wipe it using a sponge.
If it's really mucky you can machine wash it (Decathlon workshops have maxi load machines). Always take care to rinse well to keep the water repellence.
Finally, line dry the rug.
If the water repellence has faded, use a Novadry spray to re-apply it.

What is the difference in waterproofing performance compared to a GoreTex garment?Answer :
Hello, thanks for your question.
In terms of waterproofing, I'd say GoreTex offers solutions intended for extreme use conditions.
At Novadry, our approach first considers the sports use for which the product is designed. This means we don't restrict our range to just one membrane or one technology.
Remember that, just like GoreTex, our products are tested on the component and the finished product. Tests are carried out at all stages of design and manufacture to guarantee the component and assembly quality at the best price.

The RAIN CUT jacket offers occasional shower protection during rambles on easy paths with low gradient.
It is waterproof and has taped seams, and is breathable and windproof.
It's easy to carry, lightweight, always handy in your bag or car.
You can also adjust the sleeves and hem with a pair of scissors without the cuts fraying, as the fabric and seams are designed to be cut in this way.
The FORCLAZ 900 jacket is designed for trekking, for protection from heavy rain, and to keep your body dry.
It is also waterproof with taped seams, breathable and windproof, but the waterproofing and breathability are superior.
The hood is particularly well-designed to protect your head, the front zips and pockets are waterproof, and zipped vents under the arms provide extra ventilation possibilities.These Quechua jackets with Novadry technology have been designed for very different uses, which makes the products different.
To conclude, the RAIN CUT is designed as a showerproof jacket for light rain and "gentle" sports use.
The FORCLAZ 900 offers protection from extreme weather and is for intensive sports use.

What is the difference between Novadry and Gore-tex?Answer :

Thank you for your interest in our products.GORE-TEX was the first manufacturer to develop and use a waterproof and breathable membranes based on PTFE (contains substances derived from fluoride).
They are technology providers, similarly to INTEL for computers.
They develop technical solutions as well as waterproof and breathable fabrics based on the membrane.
Their reputation for quality no longer needs to be proved and their prices are voluntarily high to reflect the quality of their products.
NOVADRY is fairly close to GORE-TEX in that it is also a technology provider and has a strict quality policy.
The differences are as follows:
- NOVADRY wishes to make waterproof and breathable products accessible to the greatest number and therefore more affordable,
- using several waterproof and breathable technologies (polyurethane membrane, coating, and other techniques coming soon), without compromising on the quality of the finished product when used for sporting activities,
- adapting it to use whilst guaranteeing waterproof and breathable qualities. The requirements in terms of breathability and waterproofness differ for each sport. For example, golf players do not encounter the same weather as long-distance hikers, nor will they undergo the same intensity of physical activity.Sportingly yours,

Thank you for your interest in our brands.
Novadry offers different technologies for waterproofing and breathability.
We have technologies at 2,000/2,000mm, 5,000/5,000mm and 10,000/10,000mm. The first value is before washing and the second after washing. We have 3 levels.
These are the values shown on product signs in store (when specified).
The waterproofing levels depend on the intended use and needs for the finished product.
It's important to remember that Novadry-branded produts are shower-tested, and as well as the component waterproofing, we also test the properties of the finished product.

I'm Sylvain Borreau, a component engineer with Novadry.
Here are the waterproofing performance ratings as mm water column for the 3 models you mentioned:
- Bionnassay 500 & 500 Light: 5,000mm.
- Bionnassay 700: 10,000mm.
To illustrate these performances, if we were to make watertight balls with these components, you would need to be 5m under water to start to see water seeping through for the Bionnassay 500 and 500 light, and 10m for the Bionnassay 700. These models provide optimum protection from the weather and also offer essential breathability to wick away the moisture produced by your body during sport.
3L (3 layer) technology is used for all Bionnassay waterproof jackets.
